9 October 2019 – “Hello and welcome to a special episode. This time we’re focusing on one of the most complex, most ambitious, most daring, and most expensive buildings built anywhere in the world in recent years.” With these words, Adam Gebrian, a well-known promoter of architecture, introduces this 15-minute film about the Fondation Louis Vuitton in Paris.

At the end of July 2019, we headed to Paris with the Surprising Buildings crew. Our target: the Fondation Louis Vuitton by world-renowned architect Frank Gehry.

The building, situated on the edge of Bois de Boulogne, is shaped like a ship with 12 glass sails and provides space for 11 galleries that exhibit only contemporary art.

Cameramen Lukáš Kladníček and Paul W. Kelley carefully shot the entire building, including its interior. From the large roof terraces, visitors get not only beautiful views of the surrounding gardens but also unusual sightlines down into the structure. Discover all this and more in the 32nd episode of Překvapivé stavby (Surprising Buildings).
